Waspaloy AMS 5706 - UNS N07001 is an age hardened austenitic, face-centered cubic nickel-based superalloy. Waspaloy alloy is typically used in high temperature applications, particularly in gas turbines. It demonstrates superior strength properties through temperatures of roughly 980°C (1800°F).
Other characteristics of Waspaloy AMS 5706 include good corrosion resistance, as well as being relatively impervious to oxidation making it well suited for service in extreme environments such as gas turbine blades, seals, rings, shafts and turbine disks.Waspaloy can be heat treated in three-steps: solution treatment, stabilisation and age-hardening.
The corrosion resistance is very good even after numerous cycles of elevated temperature exposure, or constant exposure to temperatures of up to 1900°F (1038°C).
For the best possible corrosion resistance, solution-treated material is recommended. Waspaloy is also known to behave well in atmospheres in gas turbine engine service and salt spray environments.
